We need a new band name!

I'd like to find a name for our band (currently Casual Sunday, which nobody is really satisfied with) by Friday, so we can have some marketing material for our teacher's party gig on Saturday.

Here's some that we're considering:
The Party Principle
The Riverbottom Rockers
Jammies
The Smoggers
Hoagy and the Grinders
Jimmy and the Jammers
The Ringtones
My Turn Your Turn
The Party Starters
Old Gold
Casual Sunday

Help me choose! Either pick your favorites above, or suggest an (unused) alternative. Thanks in advance!

See the list of names in Donita's comments about the drum circle. Also, how about Man O Stan? He'd be flattered.

Thanks, Jeff.

I'm pretty sure anything with "Stan" in it is right out (unless it's contained in another word, such as "Standardized Rockers").
Ask Donita if you don't know why that might be, heh...

Doni's list - and my opinions:

New Age Geezer - Uh, no.
Drum Circle Aroma - Good for a percussion-oriented group, but we're percussion-starved.
The Membrane Group - _I_ like it, but I think "Membrane" will put off some folks.
Something Gawd Awful - Again, I like it, but not the image we're currently shooting for (funtime party music with a humorous twist)
Street Ukulele - We'd have to let that uke player guy play more! ;->
Circulating Ladies - Not _my_ wife, excuuuse me! ;->

Keep 'em coming, though!

Whew! Finally a new post! The girls were way outgunning you guys in posts.

Glad to see that The Wienie Wipers did not make the list.

How about Jammin' Jims Music Melee.

Vivage, I will probably never reach your sustained posting frequency. I did a lot of posting to Usenet forums in the early '90s, and I sort of burned out on that.

I, too, am glad not to be called a Wienie Wiper.

Jammin' Jim's Musical Melee? We'll see...

No Stan names. No, no, no.

I still like Guardian Elvis. No one liked that name because they thought people would expect us to do a bunch of Elvis songs. I just like the way it sounds. Ken has a life sized cardboard cutout of Elvis in his studio. He watches over all our band practices.

The Jammies
The Ringtones

From the band name generator;
Temple Of Flowers
Dancing Bones
Happy Puppy
Monkey Puddle
Playing With Puppies
Space Girl Headquarters

It's getting late.

Ah, I used to post messages to my friends on an old VAX. I guess the novelty still hasn't worn off on me.

I like Smoghat and Temple of Flowers, I've passed all these suggestions on to the band.

We should have a new name after tonight's practice.
The band seems to be leaning towards Jimmy and the Jammers or Jammies. I think I like Temple of Flowers the best.

I did some more band name work this morning, and here are a few more that I like:

Zzyzx (Originally pronounced "Zye Zix", but Doni and I prefer "Zih Zix" (soft "i"s)) or Zzyzx Road (on on I15 on the way to the river)

Fuzzy Logic
Gilligan and the Islanders
Good2Go
Invisible Maniac ("out of sight, out of mind" translated to russian and back)
Jabberwocky
Pez
We Play Songs
Splash the Cat

Well, we talked for hours last night, got some more good names (Jin Jin and the PipChicks, The AlgoRhythms...), and decided to go with (tada!):

Casual Sunday.

That's right, we couldn't really reach total agreement on changing it. So we'll stay with CS for now, and continue looking.) ah well...

Yiu know, if you've got a name and are spending a lot of time trying to think of a better name and none of them seem any good, maybe the name is what you were meant to be called.

I'm sure John Lennon, when he first heard the Who, had thought "Now THAT would have been a good name." Or maybe Mott the Hoople.

The thing about "Casual Sunday" is that part of the name is part of a date...

"Were they playing on Saturday or Sunday??"

You could change it to Casual Sundae.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Casual Sundae. A new motto.
