Raccoon Raid and Fish Fatalities

This afternoon I noticed that the fountain ball was knocked over in our fountain in the side yard. I righted it, and refilled the water. Only one goldfish was still there, and it was dead. I strongly suspect a racoon. Poor fish. I guess I'll buy some new ones in a few days. it's been a long time since this happened.

I'm doing most of my blogging as a guest author in Donita's blog while she and Paige are on tour, as you can read in the entry below this one.

Guest blogging at donita curioso

While Donita is touring with Paige, I'm guest blogging on her blog. So, while I'll continue to occasionally post interesting information here (as I find it), most of my efforts will probably be over there. They get back on August 14. Today, the weather was extreme! You can read about it on Doni's blog.

National Film Board of Canada animations online

The animated shorts by Canada's National Film Board have always been favorites of mine at animation festivals.
The NFB just put a bunch of them online for viewing, including "The Cat Came Back", and "The Big Snit", a couple of my favorites. You can see them here, sorted by title, year, director and other things: The Cat Came Back.

BoingBoing.net just announced this, so I think that their server may be a little bit overloaded at the moment.

Impressive Tiger Rag performance on ukulele by Roy Smeck

This performance is pretty cool; he even plays the uke as a fipple flute; I haven't seen that done before!

(by the way, it sure was easy to embed a YouTube video right there!

Circuit City liquidates returns through eBay

For those of you who sometimes might buy electronics through eBay,  I found an interesting vendor.  On eBay, their user name is trading_circuit_liquidation. They're Circuit City's eBay presence for liquidating returns and discontinued items.  Doni and I found it while we were looking for a cheap boombox for her to take on her Yamato trip, and we bought a used-returned-but-checked-out cheapo boombox for $1, plus shipping for a total of $10.67.  Some stores like this sell cheap and charge too much for shipping, but these guys seem to deal fairly with shipping. You just have to be sure and check the condition of the item. For example, there's an iPod Nano going for $26 right now, but its display is bolloxed. Heck, even if this boombox doesn't work out, I'll use it somehow, nerdy guy that I am.  Anyway, I'm going to be watching these guys for cool deals, and just thought some of you folks (I think there might be as many as six readers here!) might like to know about it.

PS: I just learned that Circuit City actually have two storefronts, and I'm watching both:
