Mailing it in

Did you know that you can create a "secret" email address for your blog, and if you email to it, it will get posted on the blog (or just sit there awaiting your approval if you'd rather be careful). This is my third posting to my blog via email (I deleted the first two experiments). It works fine, with the email subject becoming the post's title, but it doesn't seem to handle links or pictures correctly. That's okay, though, because most of my blogging is just plain text.

To enable emailing posts to your blogger.com blog, just log in, go to the blog's settings page, select Email from the list across the top, enter a "Mail-to-blogger" email address "secret name", and click the publish checkbox if you want the blog to publish all emails. Click "Save Settings".

And that's it! It worked the first time for me. I added that address to my address book with the name "blog" so all I have to do is send "blog" email.

We'll see how this goes in the longer run, but it's fun for now!

I made a bumper sticker

I thought of this while reading today's news. Click on the image for a bigger version. If you like it, I'm selling them here at my cafe press store.

Progressive Positivity Hammond Podcast

You may know that I love progressive rock and the Hammond organ.
I just happened across a podcast that is fusion and progressive, and one particular podcast episode on it is Hammond-focused.
I haven't finished listening to it, and I'm absolutely certain that it's NOT everyone's cup of tea, but if you like Hammond and progressive music, you might check out Fusion Reactor Podcast #70 at:
Progressive Positivity.

The podcast is about 2 hours long, and the file is 54 megabytes, so be warned before downloading the mp3 file!

To save you a lot of clicking, here is the Hammond podcast page where you can read the song descriptions, and here is a link to the downloadable .mp3 file.

Cartoon theme song archive

I like cartoon music; I'd play the factory music from the Bugs Bunny cartoons (Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse) in bands if I thought that the audiences would like it. Anyway, here's a cartoon music archive that i just discovered:

There are a lot of theme songs from cartoon shows here. Unfortunately (for me), they seem to be slanted towards the 70's on. However, I _did_ find the theme to the elusive Herman and Katnip here! I've shown my version to a lot of people, and it will be nice to be able to jog their memory with the original. ( I like my arrangement better... ;-) )

The original Herman and Katnip (about 600 KB)

my version of Herman and Katnip (about 1MB).
